Mumbai: Khalnayak remake may come soon! Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is in the process of buying rights of the movie. Here what we know so far for this Sanjaya Dutt starter classic.

Khalnayak is one of the biggest hits in Bollywood. It was released in the year 1993 and was a biggest blockbusters ever made. Subhash Ghai produced and directed the movie. Most of us would be aware of the classic song ‘Choli Ke Peeche’.

Khalnayak was even remade in Telugu as ‘Khaidi No.1 with Vinod Kumar doing lead role. Sukanya essayed role of Madhuri Dixit. Story is all about a cat and mouse game between Police and robbers. Sanjay Dutt who played the role of a criminal wanted by police for numerous murders and thefts was arrested by Jackie shroff.

But once again he is freed so that Jackie can arrest him under nose. But things get complicated when Sanjay falls for Madhuri. Now it is said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali might remake Khalnayak. But he said he is yet to buy the rights of it.

The original director Subash Ghai said, “We had talks when Sanjay came to have lunch at my home. He said he needed the rights of ‘Khalnayak’. I have asked a sum of Rs.9 Crores. He said he will come soon once he finishes his current production ‘Bajirao Mastani’.”
