All the wait for CESTAT Bench in Hyderabad has been put to end. It is going to be launched by the month of May or June of 2015 as per the sources from FTAPCCI.
A moved aimed at speedy disposal of cases is now success at six cities, Chandigarh, Allahabad and Hyderabad to have CESTAT benches that are related to Customs, Excise and Service Tax.
Finally, the Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT) Bench is to be launched in our city, Hyderabad. Regarding this, Federation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FTAPCCI) said, “There are indications of the Hyderabad Bench being set up either in May or June”.
This bench here helps the people in saving time, money and energy instead of going to Bengaluru.
After a long time of struggle, a year later, the Union Cabinet Hyderabad had a green signal to set up new benches of CESTAT in main cities like Chandigarh, Allahabad, New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai whereas Kolkata, Bangalore and Ahmedabad already have one CESTAT bench each.
The CESTAT headquarters, Principal Bench of the tribunal are located in Delhi.
The center declared, “With the creation of six additional benches of CESTAT, disposal of cases will increase and pendency will decrease benefiting government and tax payers”.
It is all about the matter of 3.45 crore one time and 10 crore recurring expenditure per annum for the decision of creating additional CESTAT benches.
The Customs Act, 1962, Central Excise at 1944, Gold (Control) Act, 1968 and Service Tax are the major customs from where CESTAT to going to appeal orders and decisions.

- 12 posts of Members of the Tribunal (6 technical and judicial members each) in the Higher Administrative Grade (HAG+)
- 98 posts of supporting staff including Deputy and Assistant Registrars.
