New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal’s government has decided to start Delhi Witness Protection Program first to protect the identity of witness ans save mankind.

Aam Aadmi Party government has notified the Delhi Witness Protection Scheme to protect the witness in crucial cases and decided to start the program in Delhi as a first state. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has tweeted, that the AAP government has identified the witness scheme and it adopting the scheme to become the first state to do that.

Arvind Kejriwal said on Twitter that “Witness protection scheme notified by Delhi govt. Delhi becomes the first state to do that,”

To protect the identity of witness in criminal cases in 2013 the Delhi high court has directed the state government to create witness protection policy with guide lines and principle to provide for police, prosecution and executive agencies.

As per Home Department statement, the Delhi Witness Protection Scheme is about “to predict the categorisation of witnesses, creation of witness protection fund, types of protection and procedure for processing such request by the competent authority”.

As per sources, Delhi Home Department organized a sub -committee including with officers of Law Department, Directorate of Prosecution and Delhi Police and afterwards Delhi State Legal Services Authority included in the process of formulation of Delhi Witness Protection Scheme, 2015.

Delhi Home Minister Satyendar Jain is tweeted that “Delhi is first state to notify Witness protection policy today.
