Hyderabad: 121 Kg of psychotropic substance Alprazolam, which a chemical worth of Rs.24.25 lakh has been seized by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) from a Factory at Jeedimetla on Wednesday night.
On Wednesday night, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has conducted the raid on a manufacturing unit at Jeedimetla, which is illegally developing and storing the substance. DRI arrested three people including owner of firm and chemist. They were produced before Hyderabad court and sent them to 14 days judicial custody.
The DRI has seized Alprazolam substance along with drying machine which is using for manufacturing and Rs. 3.97 lakh cash from the unit. The estimated value of seized substance in a market is around Rs.24.25 lakh. Earlier the firm sold the substance to toddy shop owners of Nizamabad and Adilabad for mixing the substance in the liquor.
Alprazolam is a type of drug called benzodiazepines, it works slowly on brain functions. It is used to treat anxiety disorder, panic disorders and for depression. The mixing of substance with alcohol, will increase the effect of alcohol and it may damage brain functions thinking and reactions.
