India, May 11: Railway department is planning to introduce Tatkal Special Train services during busy seasons to cash the rush. Travelling on these special trains will be dearer to normal trains.
As per official news, senior Railway ministry has said special trains will be made by the cash-strapped transporter as per Tatkal charges on certain busy routes. Premium trains which are priced as per an active fare structure are in operational and Tatkal special trains are considered as additional services to manage the rush. Ticket chargers for these special services are higher than the normal trains in the range of Rs. 175 and Rs. 400.
The ticket rate is 10 percent higher than normal fare for the second class and 30 percent higher to all other classes that includes AC category. Premium train tickets are available only through online but Tatkal Special service tickets will be offered both at online and at ticket counters.
Passengers can relax by booking advance for Tatkal special trains. Currently, ticket may be booked only 24hrs before of journey for normal trains, but for a Tatkal Special train, passengers can book a ticket minimum 10 days and maximum 60 days before journey.
“The software for Tatkal Special ticketing system is being developed by CRIS. Once that is ready, Tatkal Special trains will be launched on select routes,” the official said.
These special services are available along with normal trains during festive seasons to clear the rush in holiday seasons. Special trains operate as per normal price but the Tatkal Special Services will be applicable as per Tatkal special trains chargers. No concessional fare will be allowed and no Tatkal quota will be there, the entire services charges will be applicable as Tatkal fares only.
