Tamil Nadu: State Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has announced Amma mobile phones scheme for women self-help groups in Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu state chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday has announced an Amma Mobile Scheme in the state assembly for the benefit of 20,000 trainers at self-help groups across Tamil Nadu state. She said that the scheme would be introduced in the current financial year.
Tamil Nadu government is planning to spend Rs 15 crore to by over 20,000 Amma mobile phones to manage slef-help groups. The state government is also planning to develop special software in Tamil for trainer of the women slef-help groups.
The self –help groups has to manage several records membership subscription, savings, loans and recoveries. A Special software will be developed to enable recording of the all these data.
Jayalalitha said in state assembly that A special mobile application will be designed to ensure registration of details and to monitor the functioning of each group,”.
As per information the state has 6.08 lakh self-help groups (SHGs) with a membership of 92 lakh women, federations are also formed at the village level and each one comprises 25 groups. Trainers are available for each group to monitor the progress of the members.
Jayalalitha government has running several schemes including Amma cement, Amma mineral water, Amma canteen and others Amma Mobile Phone scheme is the latest of the several branded schemes.
