Gandhi Memorial Award is usually given by the Indira Gandhi Memorial International Foundation. This year two Bollywood celebrities are there to receive the award among the seven eminent personalities. The two Bollywood actors are none other than Juhi Chawla and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

The other awardees are international athlete Kavita Raut, Marathi editor Rahi Bhide, author Kavita Mahajan, academician Farida Lambay and industrialist Megha Phansalkar. Nawazuddin recently played the male lead role in the movie ‘Manjhi – The Mountain Man’.

The movie got lots of praises and appreciation. Now it has fetched him the honour too. It is to be noted that he is the only male who has been selected this year’s list. Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam confirmed the news too. Nirupam said,

“Two prominent personalities – former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and All India Congress Committee general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi shall be the chief guests and felicitate all the awardees. The honour doesn’t have any cash rewards or other benefits. It is just the birth anniversary of Indira Gandhi and we are felicitating personalities for their achievements.”
