Both the actress shared their views at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit along with Director Imtiaz Ali who directed Kareena’s ‘Jab We Met’. Kangana said, “I was an obedient child during schooling. My family expected a lot from me. I was under a lot of pressure.

But I am a passionate spirit and I never matched upto their expectations. I was pursuing science and used to study 19 hours a day. My life revolved around Physics and Chemistry labs. I was in the hostel and my roommate was an artist. I used to have day dreaming regarding sculptures.

My 11th standard marks were so disappointing. Everyone said the chances of me becoming a doctor are impossible. I told my father and he convinced me to be a teacher. I feel the time I spent as a teacher is not even relevant now.. (laughs)”

Kareena and Kangana shared their origin stories at HT Leadership Summit in New Delhi. Imtiaz Ali stood as a judge before them and was listening to their stories with utmost patience. After Kangna narrated her story, Kareena said, “I was a spoiled brat and my parents couldn’t handle this.

I just used to hang around movie shootings and ogle at Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan. I will always tell them ‘I will work with you one day’. My sister Karisma will say, First go to school. But I am happy as I realized my passion at very young age.

My parents took me away so that I could get more exposure. My mother advised my father to send me to boarding school. I am an alumnus of Welham Girls. When I started my career in 2006 there were actors, superstars and there was huge discrimination.

Today everyone is together and the credit should be given to audience. Audience are ready for that kind of cinema where art can be combined with mass appeal.”
