Bengaluru: A special investigation team takes Syed Riaz into custody for Lokayukta Bribery Scandal. He is working as Joint Commissioner and Lokayukta PRO.

As a part of Lokayukta Bribery Scandal investigation, a special team who is in charge of the case took Syed Riaz into custody. Riaz is currently working as the Joint Commissioner and PRO of Lokayukta. He was arrested from a private hospital where he is undergoing a treatment for some health issue.

Reports say that the bribery scandal took place in anti-graft ombudsman’s office and Riaz has been arrested for his hand in that. A SIT official said information regarding this to media where a buzz is created in complete Assembly. Official also said that Riaz went to Mecca and returned to Bengaluru on July 19 and he has applied for leave till July 31.

Due to this, Lokayukta Bhaskar Rao has been pressured to move from the place. He had quit due to the incident happened with his son in ombudsman’s office. Rao offered bribe to the officials to prevent raid and save his son, but it reversed. Earlier, Lokayukta Superintendent of Police Sonia Narang received a complaint that Lokayukta office staff has demanded 1 crore as bribe for avoiding raid.

Soon after receiving a compliant, she wrote a letter to Registrar regarding this. Rao who is a former High Court Chief Justice couldn’t accept that his son in involved in an alleged scam of racket. He said that he would resign if the scam case is proved true. As the racket scam case has been proved, state legislature has decided for removal of Rao due to an extreme pressure from opposition parties.
