Bombay: High Court will announce the verdict on Monday over Nestle India’s petition against Food Safety Regulator FSSAI’ order.
Uttar Pradesh, Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) has tested the Nestle’ India product Maggi two minutes noodle’s in the month of May and found that, the product has high level of added mono-sodium glutamate (MSG). FDA Maharashtra filled the case against the Nestle India and famous personalities who are promoting the product.
The company tested the samples after the announcement of FDA and reported that is safe to eat but the FDA Maharashtra has banned the product across the state. To resolve all these issues, on June 5th the company has approached the Bombay High Court to take a judicial review of the order against Food Safety and Standards of Act 2011.
The Bombay High Court heard about the Nestle company petition and verdict will be announced on 3rd August 2015. The Bombay High Court today reserved the order of company against FSSAI and order is scheduled for Monday.
The order was reserved by justices V M Kanade and B P Colabawala, they asked the both sides to give their permission for fresh independent test. However the two parties could not arrive at an agreement which is proposed by High Court.
Nestle company lawyer Iqbal Chhagla said that, the company is agreed for the test, but asked the high court to conduct the test in the presence of a renowned scientist and sample for test should be taken from the company. Other side Darius Khambata, who are appearing for FDA asked that one of the sample for test must be from the lot collected by FDA Maharashtra.
The both parties have given their suggestion regarding the fresh statement, High Court will give the order over the issue on Monday.
