India’s largest carmaker Maruti says that the mid-size sedan Maruti Ciaz has crossed 1 lakh collective sales in the domestic market in this year.

Maruti had reduced the price of Ciaz in May this year and made it cheaper by up to Rs 2.91 lakh than Honda City.

Actually, this Maruti Ciaz was launched in October 2014 and become the most successful model in the country. Its design and technologically advanced features have boosted the popularity among customers. Available in Petrol and Diesel variants, it is the first car to offer SmartPlay Infotainment System. The company claims that it is one of the most fuel efficient diesel cars at an average of the 28.09 kilometres/litre.

R S Kalsi, executive director, marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki said, “Today, Ciaz is the largest selling sedan in the A3+ segment. It has enabled us to achieve a market share of 40% in the premium sedan segment. Ciaz is also exported to Africa, South America, and Central America, Middle-East, ASEAN and SAARC countries. The cumulative exports till the end of June 2016 were over 18,000 units.

Ciaz is the tallest, widest and most spacious car in its segment. The model is currently priced at Rs 7.53 lakh and Rs 9.94 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
