New Delhi, June 11: Indian Railway has reformed timings for train tatkal ticket booking and announced new refund policy on cancellation for the same.

As per new schedule passengers can reserve tatkal ticket for AC class from 10 am to 11 am and for non-AC classes, booking will be begin at 11 am and end at noon. This new schedule will come into existence in the next couple of days. Railway authorities are also planning to launch a new refund policy on cancellation of tatkal tickets and the percentage of refund would be calculated based on a time frame.

Senior Railway board member Ajay Shukla said that “Refunds will be available on cancellation of Tatkal tickets and it would be up to 50 percent and he also said the measures will be taken to ensure fast service while booking online and reducing passenger rush at counters”.

Railways is going to launch its new ‘Tatkal Special’ train services soon where travelling on this will be dearer than on normal trains and it will make these special trains as per tatkal charges to operate for certain busy routes. Railways recently introduced Premium train service with a dynamic fare structure now this Tatkal special train services are the additional one to cater to the rush.

The advanced reservation period for Tatkal Special trains is minimum 10 days and a maximum of 60 days.
