Yet another Automobile manufacturer Renault Kwid has suspended their production at the Chennai-based plant due to engine problems.
The Production of the Renault Kwid has been suspended due to Engine Problems. Though this was not confirmed officially by the French manufacturing automobile company, the production has been stopped. Nearly 1500 engines have been scrapped due to the high noise levels in the engines. The production was stopped from May 11th.
The Renault India’s spokesman has however confirmed the production stoppage. But, the reason that has stated is something different. As per the company’s spokesperson the suspension of the production was due to the regular maintenance of the plant. This reason is doubtful as the date of regular maintenance was from May 21st to 29th as per the records that were submitted to the Tamil Nadu government and the production was suspended from May 11th itself.
This may affect the company’s plans for the current calendar year as well as the financial year. The target was set as 5% share of the Indian automobile market in the small cars segment. but due to the stoppage of production, it may not be achieved. However, the deliveries are not getting affected as per the company sources. The waiting period for the small car is nearly 5-6 months from the date of booking.
On the other hand, Renault is planning to introduce at least two more variants – Kwid AMT and the Kwid 1.0 litre SCe models and some additional accessories in next few weeks. It is also expected that the date may be somewhere in the month of June. but nothing is confirmed officially till now.
Earlier Renault planned to launch the Kwid model in Brazil too. Presently the Renault Kwid has priced in between 2.62 Lakhs to 3.67 lakhs ex-show room Delhi.
