The state government has finally decided to shift the patients of Osmania General Hospital to Government Maternity Hosptial in Petlaburj and District Hosptial in King Koti. Here, no clarity on future of heritage building, the government has given permission for constructing a new outpatient block.

The new outpatient block has been constructed at Petlaburj Maternity Hospital by the cost of Rs. 4.42 crores and also ready to obtain medical equipment with the cost of Rs. 6.92 crores. It will be housed at the District Hospital in King Koti and Maternity Hospital.

For transporting the patients, drugs, diagnostic samples, doctors, diet from OGH to Maternity Hospital in Petlaburj and District Hospital in King Koti, the Government has also given a permission to hire vehicles.

A report has been submitted by the Director of Medical Education, TS and Telangana state Medical Services Infrastructure Development Corporation that seeking funds for urging the state government for allocating funds. Those funds will be used to start the process of shifting OGH.

OGH has 90 years old and this heritage building has been confirmed that not fit for patients and doctors due to dilapidated state, a report has submitted by Structural engineers from JNTU, Hyderabad.

As per report which came from JNTU and repeated requests from senior doctors at OGH and Telangana government’s doctor’s association in July, K. Chandrasekhar Rao who is chief minister has visited the OGH campus.

The Government’s sign, senior hospital doctors at OGH said that A full fledge structure and not a stop gap arrangement will be required to operate the outpatient department. This will be attracted between 1500 and 1800 patients daily.
