Swathi Murder Case: The police said the accused, a 24-year old graduate in mechanical engineering, who moved to Chennai about three months ago for a job, was staying in a mansion near Swathi’s house in Choolaimedu.

His father is a daily wage laborer. After completing his mechanical engineering, he shifted to Chennai three months ago. He was working with a textile shop for a brief period while searching for a better job in Chennai. He had been stalking Swathi for past several weeks.

The news of his arrest was released late on Friday night. The police also said that his one-sided love for Swathi and her rejection had provoked him to murder her. The accused has been hospitalized after he made a suicide attempt before the arrest. A photo released by the police shows him being taken to a hospital ward with bandages around his neck. Doctors clarified that he is stable for now but can’t talk until his wound heals which may take 2 to 7 days.

Swathi’s murder has definitely put Greater Chennai Police’s strength and capability to test in which they passed with flying colors even though after a huge delay.
