The floods and sudden rains in Chennai and Tamil Nadu severely affected not only living conditions of people but also show effect on latest super hit films Vedhalam and Thoongaavanam collections. Both movies released on same day and get positive talk, but collections were dropped due to heavy rains in Tamil Nadu.

However, Ajith Kumar starring Vedhalam and Kamal Haasan’s recent flick Thoongaavanam has been released on the eve of Diwali holidays and both movies got positive talk on its first day itself. Vedhalam has got blockbuster talks while Thoongaavanam stood as decent hit at box office.

Vedhalam got tremendous collections on first day with Rs. 15.7 Cr and stood as all-time grosser of Kollywood up to now. Thoongaavanam also performed well at box office with extraordinary collections. However, sudden rains caused due to fall in collections and after three days of its release both movies closed their maximum business.

In some areas, due to heavy rains, shows were cancelled and especially for Thoongaavanam it is very big disadvantage. People are not interested to go for movies for past three days and even in Chennai city also many areas are still in water-logged condition. For this weekend there are no new releases in Tamil and this may give small relief for buyers who bought these movies.
