Not only the Government aided or public schools but also the private schools in the state have to follow the rule of recruiting the candidates only those who qualifies in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).
The Telangana Government has made an announcement that the TET exam is mandatory for all the candidates who are probing for teacher jobs. Candidates who cracked Diploma in Education (DEd) or pursuing the Bachelor in Education (B..Ed) will be no longer enough for teacher jobs even in private schools.
The Telangana Government declared the Teacher Eligibility Test compulsory for aspiring school teachers from next academic year. In a process to improve the quality of education in Schools, Telangana State Public Service Commission will hold the TET exam to select the best and skilled candidates for the released posts.
So far, this exam is mandatory for the recruitment of teachers for government schools. However, as per the latest announcement made by TSPSC, from the academic year 2017-18, all the private schools have to recruit the candidates who qualified in the Teacher Eligibility Test.
The survey has made by the School Education Department in private and public schools across the state last month. According to that most of the teachers are a lack of English language skills. They have also found that around 36 percent of the private elementary and high schools, not eligible for the TET and have not undergone any training programmes.
However, the private school’s management also mentioned that they are in lack of qualified and trained teachers. Most of the candidates recruited by private schools are also from Telugu medium and therefore candidates with English skills are also few. This method is already started in other states.
The Telangana Government will soon consult the Private Schools Management about TET exam before issuing the orders to implement a new system in the recruitment. If the newly initiated rule passed, all the candidates who show interest in teacher jobs, have to crack the Teacher Eligibility Test.
