In the latest development in smartphones industry, the international researchers are trying innovative things. A team consisting an Indian origin graduate is developing a software that can operate the mobile with Eye.
As per the team of researchers, the latest software will be helpful for the smartphones users to operate the mobile through the eye. The complete mobile operations which include playing games and opening the apps will be taken care with Eye.
The team from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), University of Georgia and Germany’s Max Planck Institute for Informatics has been able to develop the software to identify the looks of a person with an accuracy of about a centimetre on a mobile phone and 1.7 centimetres on a tablet.
Aditya Khosla from MIT who is also the recent study co-author has stated that accuracy will improve with more data. the researchers created an app called GazeCapture that gathered data about how people look at their phones in different environments.
Phone’s front camera is used for GazeCapture information with the help of a software iTracker. The position and direction of head and eyes to figure out where the eye gaze is focused on the is recorded with this software.
Till now, around 1500 people were used for testing the GazeCapture app. Nearly 10,000 people’s testing will make the errors minimised as per the research team.
The study results were recently presented at the IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition in Seattle, Washington.
Medical diagnoses, particularly to diagnose conditions including schizophrenia and concussions can also use the software for potential usage.
