In 2015 the World atomic clock will tick one extra second on June 30, 2015. By getting this single second as it affects and leads some minute problem for the internet and will get unpredictable changes. Know more about how earth spins and reasons behind it.

The above stated title sounds pretty strange and incredible right? It’s true every one show know the reason behind in getting extra second in 2015.

Based on scrutinizes, this year on June 30th a single second will be added to the world’s atomic clocks. All such things keeps tracks by Paris based IERS (International Earth Rotation Service). Wandering how does it is possible to get an additional leap second? In every day gradually our daily time slowly down about 2000th second. The leap second needs to be added because as the Earth spins on its axis which causing days and nights.

On June, end of the day i.e., 30th 2015 after 23:59:59 clock will tick to 23:59:60. It is being added to keep terrestrial clocks. Later runs on to the standard 00:00:00 (midnight). On the next day June 1st onwards it will continue to tick normally as 00:00:01.  The earth rotation, spinning top which leads to causes earthquakes, tidal drag and whether circumstances. This sort of issue raised in earlier 1972 this will is the 26th time.

Atomic clocks measured this leap second are like Y2K bug that they threaten to throw-out of sync time as measured by computers and time. While Y2K was a single instance where computer systems used to abbreviate the year to two digits confused by “2000” and “1900” the addition of leap seconds are a regular problem.

This creates problems: “What happens to write operations that happen during that second? Does email that comes in during that second get stored correctly?” Google’s solution is to cut the extra second into milliseconds and then sprinkle these tiny portions of time into the system imperceptibly throughout the day.” This means that when it became time to add an extra second at midnight,” says Pascoe, “our clocks have already taken this into account, by skewing the time over the course of the day.”

However we are not going to stop this problem. But IERS need to keep an eye on these problems and ensure to intimate the changes when it going to occur. While Google, with its gigantic resources can indulge to this fix bug. Others may find it tricky to handle can expect some random glitches on July 1.
