State Bank of India (SBI) conducted preliminary online examination for filling up Probationary Officer posts on 3rd July 2016. It is the largest Public Sector banking and financial services company and a government-owned corporation, State Bank of India is an Indian multinational banking sector. Headquarters is situated in Mumbai.

The examination has 3 sections – English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning. A total of 100 questions are asked in the PO Prelims exam 2016. The exam level is moderate to difficult. Out of the mentioned sections, Reasoning is moderate and English and Quantitative Aptitude sections are difficult.

English section consists a total of 35 questions. This section is a difficult section among all. Candidates can attempt 20-25 questions. This is also the scoring section.

  • A Cloze test is a story based (Father & Sons) which consists 5 questions
  • Rearrangement topic is also a story based(Kingdom) with 5 questions
  • Misspelt with 5 questions
  • Error Detection with 5 questions

The quantitative aptitude section will be of level moderate to difficult. Aspirants who are very good at maths can attempt maximum questions from this section. Aspirants can get 25-30 marks in this sections. A total of 35 questions is present in this section.

  • Number Series – 5 questions
  • Simplification – 5 questions
  • Data Interpretation (Tabular Data : Cricket Score) – 10 questions
  • Language Problems (Profit Loss, Average, Boats & Stream, CI/SI, Time & Work, Average, Ratio &
  • Proportion, Percentage, Partnership, etc.) – 15 questions.

The reasoning ability section is difficult with a total of 35 Questions. Following are topics covered in the exam.

  • Inequality topic has 5 questions
  • Puzzle topic has 5 questions
  • Blood Relation topic has 5 questions
