A Tie up between TATA Motors India and the Uber Platform has resulted in making the cab drivers to become the owners of the car.

On Thursday, in a significant move by both TATA Motors India and Uber Technologies, has come together with a business deal. Tata Car owners can now easily buy the vehicle on instalments and become the cab drivers on the Uber platform. This is really helpful for the unemployed drivers to have their own vehicle and also get a source of income.

Going into the details of the deal between the two – Tata vehicles such as Indica and Indigo can be purchased on instalments financed by Tata Capital and Tata Motors Finance with easy documentation. With a flexible and customised financing solutions, the vehicle owners can own them with a condition that the Vehicles will be run as cabs under the Uber platform. Insurance is also facilitated by the Tata AIG group. This is first implemented in the City of Hyderabad of Telangana State and later will be expanded to other parts.

Tata Opportunity Fund invested in Uber in the last year. Uber Asia’s Head of Business, Eric Alexander said that the-the tie-up between the two will make many cab drivers in India to work independently and get a ride for millions of people. An expected 20,000 drivers will get benefited by the tie-up.

Madhu Kannan who is a Member-Group Executive Council, and Group Head for business development and public affairs, Tata Sons has confirmed the proceedings in a press meet. He also added that the cab drivers will be provided with the operational support with vehicle solutions programme.
