PU board is the organiser of higher secondary education in the state of Karnataka. It functions under the department of primary and secondary education, it schedules and implements the exams for the class 10 and class 12 students. There are 1202 government pre university colleges and 637 aided pre university colleges, 1936 unaided pre university colleges, 165 bifurcated pre university colleges and 13 cooperation pre university colleges. After their class 10 students can pursue their plus two education in these colleges. It offers arts, science and commerce courses.
